About Simon

In a world where every moment seemed destined for capture, I find solace in the intimate dance between reality and imagination. Early encounters with film ignited a lifelong quest to encapsulate the ephemeral essence of existence.

My journey began with a camera that etched the silhouette of a ninja turtle onto each frame—a playful prelude to a deeper exploration of the world through the lens. In college, amidst the embrace of family heirloom cameras, I delved into the alchemy of black and white film, nurturing an intimate relationship with the darkroom. Here, amidst the scent of developer and the gentle practice of dodging and burning, I discovered the transformative power of light and shadow.

Blurring the boundaries between the tangible and the digital, my work encompasses a kaleidoscope of mediums and methodologies. From the raw poetry of unaltered landscapes to the enigmatic allure of digitally manipulated portraits, my work serves as a testament to the fluidity of identity in an ever-evolving world.

At the heart of my artistic inquiry lies an insatiable curiosity for the interplay of stillness and motion, reality and fiction. I seek to distill the essence of the present moment—a solitary figure against a vast expanse, a whispered secret captured in the hush of twilight.

Formally trained in the crucible of studio arts and cinematic storytelling, I draw inspiration from the luminaries of both worlds. From the painterly compositions of Roy Anderson, and haunting narrative of Wim Wenders, each frame is imbued with echoes of cinematic magic realism—a testament to the transformative power of storytelling—a journey fueled by an unwavering commitment to experimentation and exploration.
